Brooke Schwartz, LCSW (she/her)
Founder of Sawtelle Psychotherapy Group
Brooke is the founder of Sawtelle Psychotherapy Group and a Los Angeles-based psychotherapist and behavioral therapy expert. She works with adolescents and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, challenges around having a loved one with a personality disorder, uncertainty about values or next steps in life, and critical self-talk.
Brooke’s clients are high achievers, perfectionists, and — on paper — seem to have everything figured out. She’s passionate about giving these clients a safe and nurturing space to experience their emotions, process their trauma, and learn new strategies and skills so that they can enjoy the lives they’ve worked so hard to build.
Originally from the east coast, Brooke loves taking advantage of all the outdoor activities California has to offer. When she’s not with clients or outside, you’ll find Brooke reading, watching reality TV, or teaching her rescue pup Remy new tricks.
Brooke works with clients in-person in West LA and virtually with those located in California, New York, Florida, and Maine.
Education and Training
Brooke completed her undergraduate degree at McGill University in Montréal, Canada and studied Sociology and International Development Studies, and went on to attend the Columbia University School of Social Work. There, she was accepted into a year-long Dialectical Behavior Therapy Training Program and Lab, the only program of its kind in a school of social work. Throughout that year she received intensive training in DBT through Behavioral Tech and completed her clinical internship at the NYU Child Study Center. Brooke went on to practice comprehensive DBT for several years before opening her private practice.
Brooke is trained in several other evidence-based behavioral therapies and modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples (EFT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Enhanced for Eating Disorders (CBT-E), and Motivational Interviewing (MI), among others.
